In Guangzhou Tianxing Experimental school, everyone has a "customized" timetable! The school selects and compiles over 80 school-based courses each semester, covering six areas: academic development, cultural enrichment, research and practical learning, artistic cultivation, physical growth, and family education. These courses are available for all students to choose freely. Students can select courses based on their interests and specialties, and engage in learning and improvement during the comprehensive practice classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. The diverse range of school-based courses caters to the needs of both societal development and the comprehensive and personalized development needs of students.
Recently, the school-based courses "Financial Literacy" and "Mastering the Ball" conducted interdisciplinary project-based learning at the Lingnan Financial Museum and the South China Botanical Garden, respectively. The combination of theory and practical learning has been well-received by students! This marks a beneficial attempt at exploring heuristic, interactive, and inquiry-based classroom teaching methods in various disciplines, expanding the scope of extracurricular activities. It fully leverages students' autonomy and initiative, playing a crucial role in cultivating students' core competencies in different subjects.
